Filling machines

Filling asks for two things at once: speed and accuracy. Overfilling is a direct loss; underfilling is a legal and commercial problem.

Dosing accuracy

Volumetric filling uses pump speed and valve timing; gravimetric filling uses scale feedback. In weight-based systems, coarse and fine filling stages, subtracting the in-flight material and filtering scale vibration decide the achievable accuracy.

Recipe management

Fill quantity, speed stages, capping torque and label data are stored per product. On a product change the operator selects from a list and the machine sets every parameter itself. Shorter changeover time raises capacity directly in plants running many variants.

Hygiene and CIP

In food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics production the cleaning cycle is part of production. CIP step duration, temperature and order are recorded, and an incomplete cleaning cycle can be made to lock the next production run.

Traceability

Which batch, at what time, with which parameters and how many units. When a complaint arrives, the conditions of that batch can be reviewed. See SCADA and data acquisition.
