Textile and sewing machines

On automatic sewing machines the work starts before the stitching: with defining the stitch path. We write both the editor that defines it and the control that drives the needle.

Stitch path editor

The operator or the pattern department defines the design on screen: straight and curved seams, corners, jumps, start and end bartacks. The editor turns that definition into a motion list the machine understands. The measure of a good editor is simple — defining a new pattern takes minutes, not hours.

Patterns can also come from a drawing file. We write converters that read formats such as DXF and turn them into stitch paths, so the pattern department's drawing goes straight to the machine.

Program library and data safety

A factory accumulates hundreds of patterns. They must be stored in order, copied, backed up and survive a machine replacement. We build the library so records are kept in a backup-able structure and a power cut does not corrupt a half-written file.

  • X-Y table motion synchronised with stitching speed
  • Needle bar and hook synchronisation; stopping the needle in the correct phase
  • Velocity smoothing at corners — it shows directly in stitch quality
  • Bartacks and condensed stitches
  • Thread trimming, fabric clamping and automatic start sequence

Operator side

Pattern preview on screen, piece counter, thread break warning and quick access to frequently used patterns. The goal is that nobody has to ask anyone how to start the machine at the beginning of a shift.
